Oxford

Montpelier were requested by Helen House, a registered charity providing respite and hospice care to those with life limiting illness, to assess a new project about to commence construction for 18-40 year olds to complement their existing children's hospice.  The development was costed at £4.5M and utilised the whole site.

Through a judicious approach to planning, brief development of the client and guests needs, and specialist knowledge of nursing and management requirements, Montpelier provided a turnkey project with:

  • additional and increased activity space
  • a smaller footprint to allow for a second phase
  • delivered higher finishes specification
  • reduced the capital spend to £3.5M
  • produced a 25% saving on planned expenditure

Douglas House went on to win R.I.C.S. 2004 Building of the Year, and a second £1 million phase of development was completed in May 2010.  http://www.helenanddouglas.org.uk/
